Yep its true, there are wines out there that you can find for just a couple of bucks..and for a few bucks i suppose its not much of a gamble to check em out, not a whole lot to lose really, and its a great way to at least check out different grape varietals and regions without going overboard..generally these ultra cheap wines are not as elegant or balanced as something that may come in at the 8 buck or more range, but you can have 2 or 3 bottles for that cost..and if your lookin for a buzz for the buck than these values may be the wine for you..

Taste Along w/ Adam the Wine Guy # 23 - Frias Merlot
Yummy..y'know Merlot got a bad rap a few years ago and sales tumbled..but the growers kept on pluggin away and the winemakers kept on making some great juice..this Frias is no flabby Merlot..its a big boy, balance with depth that a Cab. drinker would love..ive found that napa is the best place for growing merlot in california..you get such rich and round styles, that are reminiscent of their French cousins in Bordeaux, but with layers of fruit that the old world just cant compare..
Grill up a ribeye and enjoy some of this Frias 2005, Napa, Merlot

Taste Along with Adam the Wine Guy #11- Trocard
...these guys are some of my favorite's in all of bordeaux, i had such a great time visiting them on a recent trip, and had the opportunity to hang out w/ 3 generations of the Trocard family, which is the tip of the iceberg with about 300 years of wine making, grape growing and negociant business under there belts..this 2005, Ch. Franc la Rose, is drinking great now and will certainly get better with age..i had the chance to taste a 66, Trocard Bordeaux Superiour, with the Patriarch and winemaker, it was soo cool hearing his stories of the 66 vintage, personally he hung onto 5000 bottles to drink thru his retirement, musta been a good one.. and it was still showin great..also, if you have a chance to get your butts to St. Emillion, you really should stop by..they are open to the public for tours and tastings, except probably during harvest, they are a little busy, being the largest landowners in the region..and, keep your eyes peeled for the petit village they are constructing with guest accomidations to boot..If you make it there please tell Jean-Lous and Benoit that i sent you..
