Taste Along w/ Adam the Wine Guy #35 - Sycamore Lane
Yep its true, there are wines out there that you can find for just a couple of bucks..and for a few bucks i suppose its not much of a gamble to check em out, not a whole lot to lose really, and its a great way to at least check out different grape varietals and regions without going overboard..generally these ultra cheap wines are not as elegant or balanced as something that may come in at the 8 buck or more range, but you can have 2 or 3 bottles for that cost..and if your lookin for a buzz for the buck than these values may be the wine for you..

Taste Along w/ Adam the Wine Guy # 27 - Diamond Oaks
..decent inexpensive Pinot Noir's are pretty hard to come by..they either are a bit thin, or super fruity..and to find one on the cheap is pretty hard, knowing how fickle that grape varietal can be.. a couple of reasons pinot seems to be bit more expensive are that 1. the grape is difficult to grow, it requires ideal conditions, which include soil as well..and Carneros is one of those great pinot places.. 2. the big wine movie few years ago, put the prices for pinot noir into a tailspin, (which by the way, also, had huge effects in the slump in merlot sales),and all of the sudden everyone wants to be drinking pinot noir living out their wine fantasies..pinot is always a crowd pleaser, and appeals to a wide range of palates..for the novice, it is usually not to aggressive, and makes for an approachable point in which to enter the wild world of red wine..and for the expert, nothing like the ever-unfolding french varieties, from burgandy, with complexity that is unparalleled..and, its soo food friendly, you can even pair it up with that thanksgiving feast..and in my opionion a fantastic match with salmon..had any good recent pinot experiences??

Taste Along w/ Adam the Wine Guy #21 - Incognito
..these guys are making really cool wines in an up and coming wine growing region right here in Cali..Lodi...hmmm, Lodi you ask, where is that?..well its up north just east of the farthest reaches of the san francisco bay..generally i expect the wines from here to be big and fruity and this Incognito is no exception..although i wouldn't give it quite over the top..this one as well is a real crowd pleaser, many palate's will be satiated with a good mouthful of this juice..

Taste Along w/ Adam the Wine Guy #14 - Chameleon
out of california, and even more so in napa, you generally see the basic cabernet, merlot, and chardonnay, but there are producers out there really trying different things..these guys at chameleon really make some interesting wines out of traditional italian grape varietals..they also do a pretty cool barbera, but i think that this one's my favorite of their wines..also, i generally stay away, and i mean far away from labels with animals, particularly of the cartoony variety..but, hey, there a some exceptions and this is one of em..and this charbono could be really great w/ foods..i think it would rock with some barbeque..which i found out on one of my recent trips to france is a french word..barb-from the word for beard, and que-from the butt..so if you think about a long skewer and a fire pit and a pig..it would be skewered from the barb to the que...hence barbeque..yeehah!..i think thats french also..

Taste Along with Adam the Wine Guy #5 - Bota Box
Decent wine in a box..who woulda thunk?..well, i think it started back with the Franzia's and their tremendous marketing of box wine to the general public. and what a job they did. i think i see it in every grocery store i walk into..so one day i get this package and its a big, and heavy, i may add, box, with a bunch of boxes of boxed wine inside..figured we should give it a whirl on the "Taste Along"..I think overall these packages are really great for an everyday type wine, haven't tasted anything high end in a box yet (with out the breathe-ability it would be an interesting experiment) but the package is certainly green. you can recycle the whole thing, and the box itself is even biodegradable..Some bonus' to wine in a box..once opened you can keep it for weeks, maybe even longer, because of the airtight and vacuum sealed bladder this juice doesn't see any air till it comes out of the handy spout. also, as you kids have found out, glass breaks! worst thing that could happen here is you could get a paper cut from the box..and if you live in a small space, this is a great way to jam a ton of wine into a small package..so thats my take for now, what do you think?
